A few weeks ago I told you about my new friend, Aryana.Screen Shot 2016-06-22 at 3.02.10 PM

Aryana wanted to increase her health and, as luck would have it, she and I ended up rooming together during the 16-day NLP training we recently completed.

We got to know each other really quick as we drove from Atlanta to Miami together. 9+ hours in the car will do that.  Along the way I had shared with her my story of my health struggles and apparently it inspired her and  so she decided that she wanted to give up sugar for the 16 days of training to see how she’d feel.

Curious what happened?

She did amazing!  There was one little bump when she didn’t realize that something had sugar in it (sneaky bastard hides in everything) but other than that–she was refined sugar free for 16 days!

I was so proud of her!

That’s quite a feat eh?

I wanted you to hear from her & her story so I asked her some questions–check out what she had to say here:

Heather: What was your diet like before we met?

Aryana: Prior to meeting you my diet was filled with protein shakes and processed food. I was looking for ways to improve my overall health, especially in the area of sugar intake. My sugar intake was too high causing spikes in my blood sugar, bloating and mood swings.

(H): I remember those days!  What was your energy level like?

(A):  Energy level overall was inconsistent. When I ate fruits and vegetables regularly it would be an 8.  When I ate processed foods and excessive carbs/refined sugars it would drop to a 4 or less.

(H): So, 16-days is a long time….what made you decide to not eat any (added) sugar for 16-days?

(A):  I knew that I needed accountability to give up refined sugar and realized you could help me if I wanted it bad enough.  Hearing your story of giving up refined sugar inspired me. I was on a mission to improve my energy level, lose excess weight and feel better about my health.

(H): Since we roomed together the I know what it was like for you–could you share a bit about if there was anything difficult about it going 16 days?

(A):  Yes, day 1 and 2 were the toughest.  I realized that added sugar was in so many foods. I resisted the temptation and stayed away from people who were not in alignment with my goal.

I chose to go to the grocery store instead of eating fast food.  I drank more water instead of drinks sweetened with high fructose corn syrup and other refined sugars.

I paid more attention to labels and ingredients and was shocked to discover how much sugar I had been consuming.

(H): Was there anything that you learned about yourself through the process?

(A):  Yes, I realized that the way I look and feel without sugar is so worth the sacrifice!  My energy improved within days.  I dropped 2 dress sizes within the first week by making better food choices, staying hydrated and exercising three times a week for 20 minutes each workout.  I feel Amazing!

(H): How did your body look and feel while you were going through the process?

(A):  My blood sugar was definitely more level, giving me consistent energy.  I work 12-14 hours a day now and have enough energy to get through each day without needing to take a power nap.

After a few days of not being on sugar my body began craving more fruits, vegetables and water.  I was able to fit into a size 6 again comfortably.  The bloating was eliminated as well as the mood swings.  I feel fantastic!

(H): What was the most surprising to you about the process?

(A):  I was surprised to realize that I can live without refined sugar and make healthy choices that taste good!  The recipes and cooking techniques you shared with me inspired me to continue on this journey to improve my health as well as my family’s health.

(H): What advice would you give to anyone who wants to get sugar out of their diet but needs some encouragement?

(A):  Remember that nothing tastes as good as health feels! Focus on what you want and do what it takes to achieve your goals!

(H): I am so glad that we were introduced to room together for the GlobalNLP training….being a part of your journey has been so fun for me.  Is there anything else you want people to know about your experience?

(A):  I am so grateful that I met you.  You inspired me to take better care of my health by making simple choices to live a healthy lifestyle. I am Super Excited about going to the grocery store now that you helped me put together simple yet delicious meals.  I am now eating more Organic fruits and vegetables and reading labels on every package to ensure my family and I enjoy the freshest, healthiest meals possible.

So….moral of the story??

Everyone has his or her own journey.

For Aryana, she decided that having sugar in her life wasn’t helping her be her best. For you, it may be something else that isn’t serving you.

There is no one right way for anyone to get Smart & Sexy–but there is a way for everyone & we can figure it out together!
